it is not know if the car actually reached this speed, since video evidence shows little more than what the driver sees while zipping past at high speeds. nonetheless, it does provide a tantalizing glimpse into the future of automotive engineering and speeds that will be possible for unencumbered human transportation in upcoming years. car manufacturers are always looking for ways to increase vehicle performance by reducing mass and friction that cause drag, so it may only be a matter of time before someone builds a car capable of higher speeds still. john zhang is
