Jack stands are recommended to support the jack for safety purposes. they are rated by their capacity, so be sure to get enough of whichever type you purchase. pedal car jack stands are not designed for cars that weigh over 3000lbs, but this doesn't mean that they can't be used in an emergency if no other option is available! the vehicle has to be supported at four points with a minimum 1″ clearance between the ground and the underside of any chassis component. it should also have good all-round visibility without obstruction from other objects or equipment, including tires or other mechanical parts. with these precautions taken, using a jack stand should pose little risk when done correctly.
